Who we are
Everwood USA is a locally owned Miami Beach company, in partnership with Desafío Ambiente / Everwood Chile — turning local plastic into lumber and public goods that never rot.
Everwood USA was founded, funded, and is run by Nick Diaz, a Miami Beach resident who lives on the beach and spends nearly every free hour on or under the water. An avid freediver, longtime divemaster, and fisherman, Nick sees what plastic does to Biscayne Bay up close and leads Bay and beach cleanups, often alongside Nick’s kids and neighbors.
Nick brings an engineering background and years of experience in investment and hedge fund management to the work. That mix of technical rigor and financial discipline is how a cleanup becomes a business that lasts: plastic pulled from local waters and waste streams is turned into durable benches, tables, decking, and building materials for Miami’s parks, campuses, and shorelines.
A Miami Beach business owner, Nick built Everwood USA as a way of giving back to the community, with a clear mission: preserve our waterways and beaches, and build a circular economy where local plastic becomes local public goods. Everwood USA welcomes partnerships with the City, schools, hotels, and businesses that want to make Miami Beach a model for turning waste into lasting value.
Our manufacturing and innovation partner in Chile. Everwood USA is independent and locally owned in Miami Beach.
Desafío Ambiente / Everwood Chile designs and manufactures the recycled-plastic lumber and products. Founder Anita Farfán leads the Everwood brand under Desafío Ambiente (desafioambiente.com).
Our partner’s reported figures from 2023–24 press (Chile, USA, and Peru — not Everwood USA totals): about 3,000 tonnes of plastic recovered over ~8 years; 140+ company partners; 140+ projects; reported 3,300 t CO₂ reduced and 1,500 trees not felled. Sources are listed on our Impact page.
The partnership brings their proven manufacturing and innovation to Miami, with capacity to expand here as demand grows.
